Graveside services for Betty Jean Stewart, age
67, of Blanket will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 8, at the Rock Church
Cemetery with the Rev. Jim
Looby officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
today, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stewart passed away Tuesday night, May 5, at her home.
Betty was born Feb. 6, 1942, in
Brownwood,
Texas, the daughter of the late
Albert and Bessie (Hamrick) Funderburg. She was married to Sammie J. Stewart on Dec. 23, 1961, in Brownwood. They retired to
Blanket in 1993. Betty was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and
of the
First Baptist Church
in Blanket. Survivors include her husband, Sammie J. Stewart of Blanket;
sons, Allen Stewart and wife, Tammi, of Comanche and Gregory Stewart and
wife, Andria, of Early; grandchildren, Bianca Stewart, Sammie J. Stewart
II, Kayla Stewart, and Colton Stewart; sister, Bobbie Beal and husband,
Leon, of Early and sister-in-law, Claudia Funderburg of Brownwood; and
many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Allen Funderburg; and
sister, Dorothy Farris.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Corinne
T. Smith Animal Shelter.
