Biography for Johnny Smith

When I graduated in 1957 I joined the U.S. Army. I was at Ft. Polk, LA and Ft. Belvior, VA, Ft Rucker, AL, Korea, Ft. Hood, TX, Neckarsulm Germany, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and last tour of duty in Vietnam. Dec. 1965 I was discharged at rank of Spec E5. I went to work for Cummins Sales and Service as a diesel mechanic in Odessa, TX. I worked for them from December 1965 to June 1967, and then I went to work for Ingersoll-Rand Co. in 1967. I worked for them until November 1991 and was placed on disability, in 1991 until January 2004, with heart disease, multi-bypass and stints. I am on Social Security and Ingersoll-Rand Retirement Pension. I owe a lot of thanks to my heart doctor and my loving wife of 32 years, Mrs. Billie L. Smith for helping me through a lot of health problems.

I have 3 wonderful children, Mrs. Dana Cyr, who lives in Brownwood, TX, Mr. Mark A. Smith who lives in Stephenville, and Mrs. Karen E. Denison who also lives in Brownwood, TX. I have 8 grand-children and 3 great grand-children, and on my wife’s side 1 grand-child and 1 great grand-child.

When Billie and I married, March 1973, I had 3 children and Billie had 3 children. Since then you can see how the family grew. Billie and I did not have any children together, but we made up for it combining our children, as they grew up and had families of their own
