Biography of Donna (Curb) Comedy

Married Elvis Curb (BHS 55)in January, coming from Coleman joining BHS 57 to graduate. Donna retired from the Bay Area Chapter of American Red Cross in 2002.Now happily living in San Antonio, TX still with Elvis!

In the interim Donna's son, Charles and wife Janne', presented granddaughter, Tara, now residents of Portland, OR.

Serving both as volunteer and staff with the Red Cross Donna served in many areas and programs. As homemaker in Irving, Donna was an Instructor and Instructor Trainer in First Aid and Emergency Care. This venue proved to elevate Donna to become among the 'first female' members of the Disaster Assistance Team (DAT) in the Dallas ARC. These DATs provide emergency aid to disaster victims and responders. These are volunteers!

Experience gained in local training and response of DATs again promoted Donna to Reserve Status in the ARC National Disaster Response Cadre. These are trained personnel that respond to large disasters (floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, other situations where emergency assistance may be required) anywhere, anytime.
Donna served on Disaster Operations in most states. Assigned to a Disaster Operation Donna was a staff person, mostly in a supervisory capacity. Many friendships of lengthy duration were a result of these assignments, locally and worldwide.

This resulted in the Bay Area Chapter employing Donna (after several months assigned to Loma Prieta Earthquake) to oversee disaster operations in that five county area. The  Bay Area ARC still leads in program innovation and serves a diverse population of a geographic variety.

Continuing in a leadership role with ARC Southwest Service Area (five states) Donna volunteers now mostly by phone and email.  In addition Donna is an officer in the ARC Retirees in Texas, 'a bunch of old retired Red Crossers' meeting four times a year (exchanging experiences!) having lunch and offering encouragement!
