Biography for Linda Traylor Chism

I started to work after both of my children were in school.  I wanted to home the same hours they were so I applied at the Dallas Independent School District and was hired and went to work the next day.  That was September 1967.  I worked at W.W. Samuell High School as the attendance clerk for the boys for 9 years, 1 month and 5 days.  I then transfer to Dallas ISD Metro South.  I went from there in two weeks with a promotion to Metro East and South.  I was there for one year and the principal of the Metro Schools told me I should be a secretary.  He had me to refresh my shorthand with one of the Metro teachers.  I took the shorthand test and the new typing test and was promoted to Thomas J. Rusk Middle School.  That was a long drive from Terrell to Dallas Love Field area so after four years I promoted to High School Administrative Secretary to the Principal.  I stayed there 12 years, ( 2 years to long) and then wanted to promote again.  To promote you had to work more days and longer hours and had to drive to downtown Dallas.  It was more money, but the extra days made it less money than I was making at the Seagoville High School.  I decided and my husband decided that we had had enough of the school system.  So we both retired June 1993.  I've continued to work at different places, went to college 1 year and now am working making better money and it's easier than anything I've ever done.  I may stay at this a few years or until the Lord moves me somewhere else.  Life has been a lot of fun and I've learned alot  through all the years working with kids, teachers and administrators.  It seems like now that I never really had time to hold a full time job.  I'm busier now than I've ever been.  I'm happier now than ever before.  God is good.  I just try to follow Him in what he wants me to do.  Now He is leading me to learn the organ.  I can play, but need a few lessons on peddles and etc.

Have traveled a lot and plan to do a lot more.  My health is good, which I give the Lord the praise and glory.
